VIRGINIE DEVILLEZ FINE ART presents Surrealism Remixed by Charlotte Beaudry at The Rooms Art & Design Fair, Mix, Brussels, June 4-7.

The exhibition explores the notion of intimacy inherent to the idea of the room — a space where collectors often choose to display more suggestive works. A selection of erotic collages by Marcel Mariën, along with a folding screen and surrealist paintings by the French artist Jean-Auguste Marembert, are presented alongside works by the contemporary Belgian artist Charlotte Beaudry.

Charlotte Beaudry’s small-format paintings evoke this intimacy through depictions of jewellery, garments and lingerie, shoes, and anatomical fragments, as well as a series of ceramics subtly revealing eyes, mouths, or nipples. These works offer a counterpoint to the surrealist representation of women, often perceived as muses or fantasized figures.
